Chirag Paswan's Commitment to Bihar

On Monday, Union Minister Chirag Paswan addressed speculation regarding his potential candidacy in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, emphasizing that his focus has always been on Bihar and its people. He stated that he has communicated his desire to return to state politics to his party soon. Paswan expressed his vision for Bihar as a developed state, asserting, “If I am in Delhi, that won’t be possible.”

While speaking to reporters, Paswan reiterated his previous stance, indicating that he does not envision himself in national politics for an extended period. His sole motivation for entering politics is the welfare of Bihar and its residents. He has consistently advocated for the mantra 'Bihar first, Bihari first,' aspiring for Bihar to thrive and stand alongside other developed states. After serving as an MP for the third time, he realized that achieving this from Delhi is unfeasible. He has expressed to his party, the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), his intention to return to Bihar soon.

Paswan mentioned that his party is currently assessing whether his candidacy in the assembly elections would be beneficial. He noted that if his strike rate improves and his coalition performs well, which seems likely, he would certainly contest. He acknowledged that there is no vacancy for the Chief Minister's position in Bihar, as Nitish Kumar is expected to continue in that role after the elections. Amidst the electoral atmosphere in Bihar, there are speculations about Chirag Paswan, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), contesting in the assembly elections scheduled for October-November this year.

Party leader and MP Arun Bharti has publicly supported this move, describing it as a collective demand from the grassroots. Bharti stated on social media that Paswan has always emphasized that his political focus is centered on Bihar, and his vision of 'Bihar First, Bihari First' aims for a developed and self-reliant Bihar. He believes this can only be achieved if Paswan leads from within Bihar.

Bharti further noted that during his visits as the state in-charge, the consistent demand from the people was for Chirag to take on a significant role in Bihar. Recently, a unanimous proposal was passed in a party executive meeting advocating for him to contest in the upcoming assembly elections. Additionally, there is a sentiment among party workers that this time he should run from a general seat rather than a reserved one, sending a message that he is ready to lead all of Bihar, not just a specific community.

Bharti concluded by stating that Chirag Paswan is not just a representative but a beacon of hope for all of Bihar. His candidacy is expected to steer the politics of social justice in a new direction, advocating for both representation and universal acceptance. He emphasized that if a leader represents the entire state, why should their candidacy be limited to a specific seat? The workers believe that this time, Paswan should contest from a general seat, as he embodies the aspirations of all Biharis.
