Chirag Paswan Criticizes Bihar Government Over Rising Crime Rates

Concerns Over Law and Order in Bihar
On Thursday, Union Minister Chirag Paswan directed criticism at the Bihar government, led by his ally JDU, regarding the escalating crime rates in the state. His remarks followed the shocking incident where a prisoner, released on parole for medical treatment, was shot dead by five unidentified assailants at a private hospital in Patna.
Paswan, who is also the head of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and serves as the Minister of Food Processing Industries, expressed his bewilderment at the functioning of the police and administration. He stated that the current law and order situation in Bihar has become a serious concern, with daily occurrences of murders and a noticeable rise in criminal confidence.
He pointed out that the brazen shooting inside Paras Hospital, located in a residential area of Patna, exemplifies how criminals are openly challenging the law and the administration. With the Bihar Assembly elections approaching, the surge in criminal activities is alarming, and he hopes that the authorities will take decisive and stringent measures to restore law and order.
Paswan's comments came just a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bihar, where he is set to inaugurate several development projects worth ₹7,200 crores and address a rally. The LJP (R) leader emphasized the urgency for the administration to act on improving law and order, especially with the elections looming.
Details of the Shooting Incident
According to police reports, the shooting incident occurred at Paras Hospital, located in the Raja Bazaar area of the city. The victim, identified as Chandan Mishra, was an accused in a murder case from Buxar district. He had been released on medical parole from Beur Jail and was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
