China's Diplomatic Stance: Emphasizing Cooperation Over Rivalry with India
Beijing's Call for Strategic Partnership
Beijing: A senior Chinese official stated on Monday that China and India should recognize their relationship as one of cooperation rather than rivalry, viewing each other as partners in development rather than threats.
During a media briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian addressed inquiries regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin's remarks on Sino-Indian relations and Russia's efforts to maintain strong ties with both nations.
Lin noted that the current situation along the China-India border is stable, with effective communication channels established between the two countries.
He emphasized the importance of perceiving the bilateral relationship from a strategic and long-term viewpoint, advocating for enhanced mutual trust and cooperation while managing differences to foster healthy development.
Regarding India's apprehensions about China's relationship with Pakistan, Lin expressed that Beijing supports both nations in resolving their differences through dialogue to ensure regional peace and stability.
On the trilateral relations among India, China, and Russia, Lin remarked that these emerging economies benefit from strong ties, which contribute to global peace and security.
He affirmed China's willingness to engage in discussions with both Russia and India to promote trilateral cooperation.
In a recent interaction with global news agency leaders, including those from India, Putin praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping, highlighting that Russia's partnerships with both countries have developed independently.
Putin cautioned against interference in the complex relationship between India and China, noting that both leaders are committed to resolving mutual issues, including border disputes.
He characterized Russia's relationships with India and China as having evolved naturally, asserting that strengthening ties with one does not undermine the other.
