Strengthening Ties Between India and China

Following Russia's announcement of continued oil supplies to India at a 5% discount, Xu Feihong, the Chinese Ambassador to India, stated on Thursday that China is committed to facilitating the entry of Indian products into its market. He emphasized the importance of India-China relations, noting that both nations, as significant developing countries and neighbors, are at a pivotal moment in their national development.

Xu remarked that the friendship between India and China is beneficial for Asia, asserting, "We are the dual engines of economic growth in Asia... The unity of India and China is advantageous for the global community. Both nations have a responsibility to lead in fostering a balanced and orderly multipolar world."

Discussing the current state of bilateral relations, Xu emphasized that India and China are partners rather than competitors, advocating for the resolution of differences through dialogue. He criticized the United States, labeling it a "bully" and opposing the imposition of tariffs of up to 50% on Indian goods.

The ambassador also pointed out the positive initiatives taken by both nations to enhance people-to-people connections. He noted that China has resumed visits for Indian pilgrims to sacred sites, while India has restarted issuing tourist visas for Chinese citizens.

Xu expressed hope regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's forthcoming visit to China for the SCO Summit, stating, "I believe this visit will provide a fresh impetus to the relationship between China and India."
