China and Pakistan Forge Media Alliance to Combat Fake News

Strengthening Media Ties
Beijing: On Thursday, China and Pakistan reached an agreement to enhance their media collaboration aimed at tackling misinformation and promoting joint broadcasting initiatives.
During a meeting in Beijing, Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar engaged with Cao Shumin, the Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), to discuss strategies for improving media cooperation, as reported by state media in Pakistan.
Tarar is currently in Beijing for the Ministerial meeting of the Global Civilizational Dialogue organized by the CPC.
The discussions between Tarar and Cao, who also serves as the Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration of China, focused on expanding cooperation through joint media productions, addressing disinformation, initiating training programs, and enhancing cultural exchanges, according to Pakistan's state-run news agency.
Tarar commended China's proficiency in digital media, public service broadcasting, and the promotion of cultural content, calling it impressive.
The two parties agreed to broaden their collaboration and develop joint broadcasting projects between their respective state media organizations, with the goal of effectively countering fake news and misinformation.
They also expressed a shared commitment to combat fake news and outlined plans for technical training and institutional partnerships.
Additionally, they discussed a potential agreement between China Central Television (CCTV) and Pakistan Television (PTV) to facilitate information exchange and strengthen media ties.
