Chilling Case of Serial Killer Monu: A Gruesome Tale of Violence and Justice
The Horrific Crimes of Monu
In a shocking display of brutality, a man has crossed all limits of humanity, committing heinous acts against four women. This individual, known as the serial killer Monu, not only assaulted these women but also murdered them in cold blood. Let's delve into the disturbing details of his crimes.
The story begins in 2010 when a 21-year-old MBA student, Neha Ahlawat, left her home in Sector 38 West on July 30 around 6 PM to attend an English speaking class. Tragically, she never returned. That same night, amidst heavy rainfall, her partially clothed and bloodied body was discovered in the bushes near a taxi stand. Signs of violence were evident, and it was later confirmed through forensic analysis that she had been raped. Initially, the investigation yielded no leads, and by 2020, the case was deemed unsolved and closed. However, the DNA evidence would eventually lead the police to the truth 15 years later.
Pattern of Attacks
During this time, two more similar incidents occurred in the forested areas of Chandigarh. In each case, the women were targeted when they were alone, with the assailant taking advantage of the rainy season. The attacker would lure them to secluded spots, assault them, strangle them, and then dispose of their bodies in the bushes. In several instances, evidence of rape was also found post-mortem. DNA from all three cases pointed to the same individual.
Identifying the Killer through DNA
Monu's pattern of violence was consistent, having assaulted and murdered four women in a similar manner. His first known crime occurred in 2008 when, at just 20 years old, he raped a young girl in the Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh, killing her with a sharp stone. Although he was arrested, a lack of solid evidence led to his acquittal during the trial. A few months later, in 2010, he committed a similar crime against the MBA student, also killing her with a stone. In 2022, he attacked a married woman in the Maloya forest, and in February 2024, he attempted to rape and killed a 65-year-old woman. DNA found on the victim's clothing matched his.
During the DNA testing, samples from Monu were first compared with those of the deceased married woman. On May 6, 2024, when Monu returned, the police apprehended him. Initially, he denied all allegations, but when confronted with the matching DNA evidence from all three cases, he confessed to the murders. His mobile phone, which was tracked to the same area where the body of the victim was found, further implicated him.

Additionally, he has been fined ₹50,000 under various sections of the law. Monu faces multiple charges for similar crimes, with other cases still pending in court.
