Barpeta, March 24: On the seventh day of the Jana Ashirwad Yatra, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma engaged with the public extensively in the Bhawanipur–Sorbhog area of Barpeta district, witnessing a remarkable turnout.

The day commenced with the Chief Minister offering prayers at the Gorokhiya Gosain Than, setting a spiritual tone for the rally.

The yatra kicked off around 9:30 am, traversing significant locations such as Kalabhanga (Barpeta Road), Amtola, Khoirabari, Simlaguri, Babupara, Barpeta Road, Durgabari, Kalibari Mandir, Howly Chowk, Raas Mandir (Howly), and concluding at Bhawanipur Satra.

During his addresses at various stops, Sarma emphasized the importance of senior BJP leader Ranjit Kumar Dass, who previously represented Bajali and is now contesting from Bhawanipur–Sorbhog.

“I am here to garner the people's blessings for him. Today's turnout is a testament to the strong support for the BJP,” he remarked.

Local attendees expressed similar views, noting the impressive participation despite unpredictable weather conditions.

“Thousands gathered in Sarbhog, with many more lining the route in Barpeta. Not even rain or storms could dissuade the crowd. This turnout reflects the appreciation for the developmental initiatives undertaken in the state,” shared a spectator.

A visibly pleased Dass remarked that the yatra is among the most effective public outreach efforts in Assam. “The overwhelming support we are experiencing indicates the trust the people have in our leadership,” he stated.

The second phase of the Jana Ashirwad Yatra commenced on Monday, with Chief Minister Sarma campaigning in his own constituency, Jalukbari, where he also drew large crowds despite heavy rainfall.

Looking ahead, the campaign is expected to gain further momentum, with the party announcing a list of 40 star campaigners, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union ministers, and chief ministers from BJP-led states.
