Government Approves Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, August 7 - In a significant move to enhance electronics manufacturing, the Indian government has granted approval for the establishment of an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Rajnandgaon district, Chhattisgarh. This announcement was made by officials on Friday. They noted that this approval, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, is seen as a major step towards positioning Chhattisgarh as one of the emerging hubs for electronics manufacturing in the country.

Officials indicated that this initiative is expected to pave the way for investments exceeding ₹3,000 crores in the state, creating direct and indirect employment opportunities for around 9,000 youth. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has sanctioned ₹210.56 crores in central assistance for this project, which has a total budget of ₹432.08 crores. The Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation (CSIDC) will oversee the project's development.

The cluster will be developed over approximately 306 acres and will feature ready-built factories, modern industrial infrastructure, electricity, water supply, warehouses, and other essential facilities to enable companies to commence production swiftly. Officials mentioned that four major companies in the semiconductor, electric vehicle (EV), and smart electronics sectors have already expressed interest in investing here, indicating that Chhattisgarh is becoming an attractive destination for high-tech industries.

Experts believe that this project could serve as a development engine, steering the state's economy in a new direction rather than merely being an industrial cluster. Chief Minister Sai expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for this approval, stating that it reflects the growing confidence in investing in Chhattisgarh. He added that the state government will train local youth according to industry needs to maximize employment benefits from new industries.

Officials noted that this project, which aligns with the visions of 'Make in India', 'Digital India', and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat', will accelerate electronics manufacturing, component production, and value addition. Additionally, Chhattisgarh will join the ranks of a select few states laying a strong foundation for the future electronics economy in the country.
