Chhattisgarh CM Seeks Central Support for Key Development Projects

Meeting with Prime Minister Modi

On Friday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to request expedited approval for a proposed gas-based urea project worth ₹10,500 crores and special assistance to connect 461 villages to a permanent electricity grid. During the meeting, Sai also urged the Prime Minister to accelerate the establishment of an All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in Raipur or Bastar to enhance healthcare services and promote traditional medical systems. According to a statement from the Chhattisgarh government, the Chief Minister discussed several critical development issues with the Prime Minister.

Development Proposals Presented

The Prime Minister's Office shared on social media that Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As per the state government's statement, Sai presented a comprehensive framework for the holistic development of the Bastar region and sought cooperation from the center for several key initiatives. He specifically requested assistance for three major proposals, including the swift approval of the ₹10,500 crore gas-based urea project in Rajnandgaon.

Impact on Farmers and Industrial Growth

Sai informed Modi that the land for the project has already been allocated, and all necessary approvals at the state level have been completed. He emphasized that this initiative would significantly benefit farmers by ensuring a consistent supply of fertilizers and also promote industrial growth in the region. The second project involves connecting 461 villages to a permanent electricity grid, which requires special support from the central government.

Improving Quality of Life

These villages, located in security-sensitive areas, have historically been beyond the reach of traditional electricity networks and currently rely on off-grid power systems. Sai stressed that grid connectivity would guarantee reliable electricity supply, enhance the quality of life for residents, and foster long-term development in these areas. The third proposal aims to expedite the establishment of an All India Institute of Ayurveda in Raipur or Bastar to strengthen healthcare services and promote traditional medical practices in Chhattisgarh.
