CSK Announces Replacement for IPL 2026
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have officially named Macneil Noronha as the substitute for the injured Ramakrishna Ghosh in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, as per an IPL announcement.
Ramakrishna Ghosh, a bowling all-rounder, participated in only one match this season against the Mumbai Indians on May 2, where he sustained an injury to his right foot. Unfortunately, he has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The IPL statement confirmed, "Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have selected a replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh, who suffered a right foot injury during the match against Mumbai Indians. He will not return for the season."
Introducing Macneil Noronha
Macneil Noronha, an all-rounder hailing from Karnataka, will join CSK for a fee of Rs 30 lakh. Recently, he was honored with the MA Chidambaram Trophy at the Naman awards for being the top run-scorer in the 2024/25 Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy, amassing 1,037 runs in 14 innings, with a remarkable highest score of 345 and an impressive average of 79.77.
Following his outstanding performance in the CK Nayudu Trophy, Noronha earned a spot on the Karnataka team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he played in three matches for his state.
CSK's Performance in IPL 2026
As for the Chennai Super Kings' journey in the IPL 2026 season, the five-time champions faced a rocky start, losing three consecutive matches. However, they have made a strong recovery and currently sit fifth on the IPL points table, with six victories and five defeats in their 11 matches.
Under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad, the team is on a three-match winning streak. With three matches remaining in the group stage, they aim to secure as many wins as possible to reach the playoffs.
