Chargesheet Filed Against Zubeen Garg's PSOs in Disproportionate Assets Case
Chargesheet Filed by Vigilance Cell
Guwahati, Feb 28: The Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell has submitted a chargesheet against two personal security officers (PSOs) of singer Zubeen Garg in connection with a case involving disproportionate assets.
This chargesheet was presented on Friday at a special court.
The vigilance team had previously initiated investigations against the two individuals, Nandeswar Borah (43) and Paresh Baishya (56), who were taken into custody last October.
According to officials, the investigation uncovered that their assets exceeded their known income sources by approximately 38-40%.
Notably, these PSOs did not accompany the singer to Singapore during the unfortunate incident that occurred in September.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has charged them under Section 316 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.
This section addresses Criminal Breach of Trust, replacing the previous IPC Sections 405-409, and applies to individuals who dishonestly misappropriate entrusted property.
Additionally, on Thursday, the Assam Cabinet sanctioned the establishment of a fast-track court to expedite the legal proceedings related to the death case associated with the incident involving Zubeen Garg last September.
