Char Dham Yatra Resumes in Uttarakhand After Temporary Halt Due to Weather

In Uttarakhand, the renowned Char Dham Yatra, which had been temporarily suspended due to ongoing rainfall and landslides, has recommenced as of Tuesday. Officials indicated that the pilgrimage was halted on Monday, but after a thorough assessment of the travel routes and safety measures, it was decided to resume operations.

Anand Swaroop, the Garhwal Commissioner, shared that efforts are being coordinated among the administrations of all districts involved in the pilgrimage, police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and other relevant departments to ensure the journey is safe and well-organized. Continuous monitoring of the travel routes is being conducted, with heightened caution in sensitive areas.

The Commissioner urged pilgrims to exercise extra caution during their journey. He advised that if the weather deteriorates, or if heavy rain or landslides cause temporary disruptions, travelers should remain at designated safe locations or 'holding areas' as determined by the authorities. Pilgrims are encouraged to fully comply with the instructions from police and administration.

He emphasized that the journey should only proceed once conditions normalize. Highlighting the utmost priority on the safety of travelers, Anand Swaroop stated that all relevant departments have been instructed to maintain vigilant oversight of weather conditions and travel routes, ensuring that prompt action can be taken in case of emergencies.
