Disruption in Lok Sabha Prior to Prime Minister's Speech
On Wednesday, just moments before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was set to address the Lok Sabha, the session was abruptly suspended. This incident occurred after a fierce protest by opposition MPs escalated into a confrontation with the ruling party, leading to a barrage of accusations exchanged between both sides.
According to BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, several female opposition MPs entered the well of the House, advancing towards the Prime Minister's seat while ignoring repeated appeals from senior ministers.
Tiwari stated that the situation had spiraled out of control, preventing the Prime Minister from entering the House. He expressed shock at the images of the chaos, asserting that the opposition's actions were a reflection of their fear of being defeated by the public. He claimed that despite the nation achieving significant respect, the opposition was obstructing celebrations and attempting to silence PM Modi. He emphasized that the entire country was watching and would hold Congress accountable.
He further alleged that opposition MPs climbed onto the Prime Minister's designated area and created a significant uproar. Tiwari raised concerns about security, suggesting that the aggressive behavior of the opposition could have led to an attack on the Prime Minister. The opposition MPs, brandishing a large banner that read, 'Do what seems right,' chanted slogans as they entered the well of the House. Members from the Trinamool Congress and the Samajwadi Party also joined the protests, which intensified with hooting as PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were absent from the session.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh remarked that it was unfortunate to witness such disorder during the President's address for the first time. He criticized the opposition for their childish behavior, questioning whether they believed they were in a dynasty of the Nehru family or a Congress office. BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi added that PM Modi intended to address the session, but the leaders of the India-India alliance deprived him of that opportunity, calling it a deeply regrettable situation that the entire nation was observing and condemning.
