Changes Announced for India's 2025 Home Cricket Season Venues

Busy Schedule for Team India in 2025
The 2025 domestic cricket season for Team India is set to be quite packed. In October and November, the team will face off against the West Indies and South Africa in a series of Tests, ODIs, and T20 matches. However, prior to these series, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made alterations to the venues for the Test matches.
West Indies Series Venue Changes
India will first host the West Indies, with the opening Test match scheduled to take place from October 2 to 6 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The second Test, originally set for Kolkata's Eden Gardens, has now been moved to the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where it will occur from October 10 to 14.
South Africa Series Venue Adjustments
In addition to the changes for the West Indies series, the venues for the Test matches against South Africa have also been modified. The South African team is expected to tour India in November 2025 for two Tests, three ODIs, and T20 matches. The first Test, which was initially planned for Delhi, has been relocated to Kolkata and will be held at Eden Gardens from November 14 to 18. The second Test is set for Guwahati from November 22 to 26.
Reasons Behind Venue Changes
While the BCCI has not provided specific reasons for these venue changes, it is speculated that the onset of cold weather and pollution in Delhi around mid-November could lead to fog and reduced visibility, impacting the matches. This concern has been noted in previous instances, possibly influencing the BCCI's decision.
No Changes for ODIs and T20s
There are no alterations to the venues for the three ODIs and five T20 matches against South Africa. The ODI series will commence on November 30 and conclude on December 6, while the T20 series is scheduled from December 9 to December 19.
Venue Changes for India A vs South Africa A Matches
The BCCI has also adjusted the venues for the three ODIs between India A and South Africa A. These matches were originally slated to take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru but will now be held at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
