Chandigarh on High Alert: Air Raid Sirens Sound Amid Rising Tensions with Pakistan

Chandigarh Administration Issues Air Raid Warning

On Friday, the Chandigarh administration activated air raid sirens, urging residents to stay indoors. An official announcement indicated that the air force station had issued a warning regarding a potential attack.

Chandigarh serves as the joint capital for both Punjab and Haryana.

This alert comes amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.

The Mohali district administration has also recommended that individuals in areas adjacent to Chandigarh remain indoors.

A message from the Mohali administration stated, "There is an alert in certain parts of Chandigarh. We advise residents in the bordering sectors of Mohali to stay indoors and avoid windows and glass surfaces."

Earlier, sirens were activated in Chandigarh on Thursday night as India successfully countered Pakistan's attempts to target military locations using drones and missiles, particularly in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur, following the foiling of attacks aimed at military sites across 15 cities in northern and western India.

The defense ministry reported that the Pakistani military made attempts to strike locations including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj on Thursday night.

These renewed efforts by Pakistani forces followed India's precise missile strikes on nine terrorist targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan under 'Operation Sindoor' in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22.
