Chandigarh Gears Up for Its Inaugural International Marathon in 2026
Countdown to the Chandigarh International Marathon
The anticipation is building for the inaugural Chandigarh International Marathon, set to take place on March 1, 2026. The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh, Gulab Chand Kataria, was presented with the official Marathon T-Shirt by officials from the Department of Sports during a ceremony at Lok Bhavan.
Unveiling of the Official Marathon T-Shirt
During the event, T-Shirt No. 1 was ceremonially handed over to the Governor, representing his leadership and dedication to promoting sportsmanship.
The presentation took place in the presence of Mandeep Singh Brar, Secretary Home, UT Chandigarh, and was conducted by Secretary Sports, Prerna Puri, along with Director Sports, Saurabh Arora.
Governor's Participation and Promotion of Health
Gulab Chand Kataria, accompanied by his wife, Anita Kataria, will take part in the 5 KM marathon event, aiming to motivate the community to lead healthier and more active lives.
Marathon Theme and Event Details
The marathon carries the theme 'Run • Rise • Repeat', designed to encourage people of all ages to embrace fitness, resilience, and determination.
Scheduled to kick off at 7:00 AM from Chandigarh Club, Sector-1, Chandigarh, the event promises to be a vibrant celebration of health and fitness.
Race Categories for Participants
Competitors will have the opportunity to participate in four distinct race categories: 42.19 KM, 21.09 KM, 10 KM, and 5 KM.
Organized by the Department of Sports, Chandigarh Administration, the 1st Chandigarh International Marathon is anticipated to attract a diverse group of athletes, fitness lovers, and local residents.
