PSG and Barcelona Deliver Dominant Performances
Paris Saint-Germain launched their UEFA Champions League title defense with a stunning performance, while Barcelona, Liverpool, and Arsenal also kicked off their campaigns with wins during the first matchday featuring six games on Wednesday (local time). PSG showcased their strength by overwhelming Slovan Bratislava with a 6-1 victory, highlighted by Ferran Torres scoring a hat-trick in his inaugural Champions League match for the club. Ousmane Dembele initiated the scoring after Nuno Mendes hit the post and later added another goal, before Torres took the spotlight with three strikes. Sporting CP bounced back from an early setback to defeat Galatasaray 3-1 in Lisbon. Galatasaray initially took the lead with an own goal from Goncalo Inacio just five minutes into the match. Geny Catamo equalized before Luis Suarez converted a penalty in the second half, and Rodrigo Zalazar sealed the comeback with a powerful free-kick.
In Stuttgart, Ermedin Demirovic's first-half hat-trick led the German team to a 3-1 victory over Champions League newcomers Viking. Demirovic scored the opener after 20 minutes, but Zlatko Tripic quickly equalized for the visitors. Demirovic then restored Stuttgart's lead with a shot that hit the underside of the bar before completing his hat-trick with a volley shortly after the half-hour mark.
