Today, the Chamba Zila Parishad convened its quarterly meeting at Bachat Bhawan, presided over by President Rekha Thakur. The Additional Deputy Commissioner and CEO of the Parishad, Amit Mehra, attended as a special guest.

The meeting focused on various public welfare topics across different departments. The financial report and the annual budget for the fiscal year 2026–27 received approval. Notably, self-approval was granted for approximately 54,000 development projects valued at ₹1,878 crore under the VBG-Ram Ji scheme, excluding the Pangi block.

Furthermore, development initiatives funded by the 16th Finance Commission's tied and untied grants were also sanctioned. Rekha Thakur urged departmental officials to collaborate effectively to ensure the timely execution of public welfare projects, emphasizing the need to address issues raised in Parishad meetings promptly.

A total of 60 agenda items were reviewed, encompassing areas such as electricity, drinking water, transportation, education, roads, health, and tourism. Departments that failed to provide satisfactory responses were directed to take immediate action to resolve outstanding issues.

Mahesh Chand, the Parishad Secretary and District Panchayat Officer, delivered comprehensive reports on the agenda items. Members of the Parishad also voiced significant public concerns and provided suggestions.

The meeting commenced with a two-minute silence to honor the late Parishad member Chandrabhooshan, who recently passed away. Additionally, discussions took place regarding the upcoming Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, set to run from September 17 to October 2.

Attendees included Vice President Liyaqat Ali Khan, various Parishad members, Deputy Superintendent of Police Baldev Dutt, Divisional Forest Officer Kritagya Kumar, Chief Medical Officer Dr. J.S. Bhardwaj, Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Dr. Rakesh Bhangalia, Deputy Director of Agriculture Dr. Bhupender Singh, Deputy Director of Higher Education Vikas Mahajan, Block Development Officers Basheer Khan and Anil Gurada, along with officials from multiple departments.
