MLA Neeraj Nayyar recently led a collaborative inspection alongside district officials to assess both ongoing and proposed development initiatives in Chamba town and its vicinity. The visit included the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal and Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani.


Nayyar evaluated the site for a proposed multi-level parking facility at the old bus stand, the beautification efforts at the historic Chamba Chaugan, and the planned parking area adjacent to Paridhi Grih. Other sites inspected included Hardaspur Park, the upgrade of Police Ground Wargah, and the construction of the Indoor Sports Stadium. He also monitored the progress at the Sultanpur helipad site, providing necessary guidance to officials.


In a statement to the media, Nayyar expressed his congratulations to the residents of Chamba, highlighting that long-standing parking challenges in the town are being effectively addressed. He revealed plans for a four-storey modern parking structure at the old bus stand, with an anticipated completion timeline of 12–18 months. Additionally, a three-storey parking facility is in the works near Paridhi Grih, with technical processes currently in progress.


As part of the Chaugan beautification project, musical lights are being installed, and a large LED screen is set to be introduced, providing a platform for local children and artists to display their talents. Nayyar assured that the heritage character of Chaugan will be preserved while enhancing its overall appeal.


For the Indoor Stadium, a budget allocation of ₹11 crore has been approved, with tenders worth ₹8.5 crore already issued and construction underway. Regarding the Sultanpur helipad, Nayyar confirmed that most of the work has been finalized, with helicopter services under the UDAN scheme expected to commence by September this year.


The inspection was attended by Assistant Commissioner Rahul Dhiman, HRTC Divisional Manager Shugal Singh, Executive Engineer Joginder Sharma, Junior Engineer Nitika Thakur, along with other departmental officials.
