Chamba Launches Eco-Friendly E-Cart Service for Public Transport

In a move hailed as a major advancement for both environmental sustainability and public convenience, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, the Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha, officially launched the e-cart service initiated by the Chamba Municipal Council today.
The service was inaugurated at Millennium Gate, where the Speaker informed the press that this initiative aims to decrease pollution levels in the town while fostering a cleaner and greener environment. He noted that the e-cart service not only supports eco-friendly transport but also enhances mobility for local residents.
The e-cart will run between the Medical College and Bharmour Chowk, charging a minimal fare of ₹10. Pathania pointed out that this service will particularly assist senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and those who encounter difficulties in daily commuting.
He praised the Municipal Council and district administration for their efforts, stating that such initiatives are pivotal for public welfare and developmental progress. He also mentioned that the state government has been actively working for three years to improve the economic situation of unemployed youth. Through the e-vehicle scheme, young entrepreneurs are receiving vehicles with nearly a 50% subsidy, which is generating local job opportunities and enhancing livelihoods.
Pathania expressed optimism about the future growth of this scheme, asserting that it will empower more young people and foster self-sufficiency throughout the state.
The inauguration event was attended by various dignitaries, including Sadar MLA Neeraj Nayyar, his spouse Bharti Nayyar, Lalit Thakur, Chairman of the District Agricultural Produce and Marketing Committee, Surjit Bharmouri, President of the District Congress Committee, Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal, Superintendent of Police Vijay Singh Saklani, Senior Executive Officer Rakhi Kaushal, along with other officials.
