Mukesh Repaswal, the Deputy Commissioner of Chamba, has reassured residents that the distribution of commercial LPG cylinders (19 kg) in the district remains consistent and urged consumers to avoid panic buying.
During a meeting focused on the distribution of these cylinders, he highlighted that the state government has implemented a policy to manage the current supply shortage effectively. This policy allocates 37% of the cylinders to educational institutions and hospitals, 36% to hotels, restaurants, and dhabas, 14% for social events, and 13% for government entities, corporate guest houses, and industrial canteens.
Repaswal instructed all commercial LPG users to submit their orders to distributors ahead of time and emphasized that the distribution should adhere to a 'first come, first served' approach based on the order requests.
To combat black marketing and hoarding, he has directed the District Controller of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, along with local law enforcement, to implement stringent measures. He also noted the importance of ensuring a steady supply to hotels in popular tourist areas like Dalhousie, especially with the tourist season approaching.
The meeting included participation from Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jalam Bhardwaj, District Controller (Food & Civil Supplies) Karan, and Additional Superintendent of Police Dinesh Kumar Sharma.
