Chamba Celebrates International Women’s Day with Heritage Events

On March 8, Chamba will host a variety of events to celebrate both International Women’s Day and Chamba Day. The Deputy Commissioner, Mukesh Repaswal, shared these plans during a press conference held at Bachat Bhawan.
Heritage Walk to Highlight Chamba’s Cultural Richness
The festivities will kick off at 8:30 a.m. with a Heritage Walk starting from the Bhuri Singh Museum. This guided tour will take participants through Chamba’s ancient temples, historical sites, and cultural landmarks, providing a glimpse into the town's vibrant heritage.
District-Level Celebrations at Akhand Chandi Mahal
After the walk, a district-level event will take place at the historic Darbar Hall of Akhand Chandi Mahal.
- Local artisans, craftsmen, and self-help groups will showcase their handicrafts and products through various stalls.
- Cultural performances will include contributions from ASHA workers, Anganwadi staff, and women from self-help groups.
- Notable women from Chamba who have made significant contributions in various fields will be recognized.
- Outstanding girl students from Classes 10 and 12 will also receive awards.
Engaging Academic Sessions
As part of the celebrations, three special lectures will be held at Government Postgraduate College, Chamba. Successful women from various sectors will engage with students, sharing their inspiring stories and accomplishments.
Encouraging Community Involvement
DC Repaswal encouraged community members, particularly the youth, to actively participate in the events. He emphasized the importance of recognizing Chamba’s historical integration into India in 1948 while also celebrating women's empowerment.
District Tourism Officer Rajiv Mishra and representatives from the media were present during the announcement.
