Chamba Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Enthusiasm and Pride

The historic Chaugan ground in Chamba was alive with excitement as the community celebrated the 80th Independence Day. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri proudly hoisted the national flag and oversaw the impressive march-past.

Seventeen different contingents took part in the parade, showcasing the participation of various groups including the District Police, Forest Department, Home Guards, NCC, SPOs, NSS, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Anganwadi workers, Nursing College, DIITHM Institute of Hotel Management, and NFCI. The parade was skillfully led by Lady Police Inspector Pankaj.

Students from various schools and colleges showcased vibrant cultural performances, enhancing the festive atmosphere. Additionally, the Deputy Chief Minister recognized the efforts of departmental officers, employees, institutions, and social workers by awarding them commendation certificates for their exceptional contributions.

The event was attended by notable figures including MLA Neeraj Nayyir, former minister Asha Kumari, Thakur Singh Bharmauri, former MLA Surender Bhardwaj, Surjit Bharmauri (President, District Congress Committee), Amit Bharmauri (General Secretary, State Congress Committee), Sunabh Singh Pathania (President, Youth Congress Committee), Bhuwaneshwari Gulati (Chairperson, Municipal Council), Rekha Kumari (Chairperson, Zila Parishad), DC Mukesh Repswal, SP Vijay Saklani, along with former military officers and a large crowd of citizens and dignitaries.

The celebrations wrapped up with a strong sense of patriotism and pride, emphasizing the importance of unity, responsibility, and dedication to the nation.
