Seizure of Historic Temple Land

A temple that has stood for a century in Tando Jam, located in the Hyderabad district of Pakistan's Sindh province, has reportedly fallen victim to land mafias. Recent reports indicate that these groups have begun construction on the temple's land, which has raised significant concerns among the local Hindu community. Shiva Kachhi, a local resident, shared this alarming news via a video on social media.

Derawar Ittehad (PDI), a prominent Hindu organization in Pakistan, has also brought attention to this issue by posting a video online. Kachhi emphasized that the Shiva temple, which is over 100 years old, is now facing illegal construction activities on its premises.

According to Kachhi, a dedicated committee oversees the four-acre area surrounding the temple, situated approximately 185 kilometers from Karachi. He noted that the Sindh Department of Cultural Heritage has previously undertaken renovations of the temple.

Additionally, a crematorium has been established near the temple to serve the Hindu community. Kachhi mentioned that devotees regularly visit the temple on Mondays to offer their prayers. He expressed his concerns, stating, 'The land mafias have seized the land and initiated illegal construction activities.'

Kachhi has called upon the Pakistani government to take action against these unlawful activities and to safeguard the temple premises. He highlighted the importance of protecting several historic temples in Sindh, urging the authorities to ensure their security.
