Government Support for Himachal Pradesh's Recovery Efforts

A high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has sanctioned a central assistance of ₹2006.40 crore for Himachal Pradesh. This funding is aimed at recovery and reconstruction following the floods, landslides, and cloudbursts that occurred in 2023. The committee, which includes the Finance Minister, Agriculture Minister, and Vice Chairman of the NITI Aayog, reviewed the proposal for financial aid from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to support the state.


 


The approved recovery plan of ₹2006.40 crore will assist Himachal Pradesh in addressing the damages caused by the natural disasters during the 2023 monsoon season.


 


Out of this amount, ₹1504.80 crore will be allocated from the NDRF's recovery and reconstruction funding window. Previously, on December 12, 2023, the Ministry of Home Affairs had approved an additional financial aid of ₹633.73 crore for the state affected by the disaster. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian government stands firmly with state governments during natural calamities.


 


To fulfill Prime Minister Modi's vision of a disaster-resilient India, the Home Ministry has initiated several measures to ensure effective management of disasters across the country. Steps have been taken to strengthen the disaster risk reduction system in India to prevent significant losses during such events.


 


JP Nadda expressed gratitude on social media, stating that he appreciates Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for approving the ₹2006.40 crore recovery and reconstruction plan in response to the natural disasters in Himachal Pradesh in 2023. He emphasized that the financial assistance from the Modi government is a crucial support for the disaster-affected citizens, reaffirming the government's commitment to stand by the people of Himachal Pradesh in times of crisis.
