Significance of the Ceremony

In a significant announcement, Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya expressed that today marks a moment of pride for all devotees of Lord Ram and those involved in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement. He emphasized that without Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the struggle to construct the temple at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi would still be ongoing. The city of Ayodhya is under heightened security as the second phase of the consecration ceremony at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple commenced on Tuesday, June 3. This three-day event will conclude on June 5, coinciding with the Ganga Dussehra festival.


 


Ceremony Details

At 6:30 AM on Tuesday, 101 priests from across the nation initiated the consecration rituals at eight temples within the Ram temple complex. The rituals included Vedic worship, chanting of 1,975 mantras, and various spiritual offerings such as the Ram Raksha Stotra, Hanuman Chalisa, and Yajna (fire rituals). Similar ceremonies are scheduled for June 4 as well. Mahant Govind Dev Giri, who oversees the temple trust's finances, stated that the consecration ceremony symbolizes the infusion of life into the idols, marking a crucial step towards completing the Ram temple project.


 


Main Consecration Ceremony

The principal consecration ceremony is set for June 5, when the idols of Lord Ram, Sita, Lakshman, and Hanuman will be consecrated on the first floor of the main temple. Additionally, the idols in seven newly constructed temples within the complex will also undergo consecration. This event is reportedly being conducted under an auspicious time designated by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vijayendra Saraswati of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham.
