Celebration of 18th Biennial Session of All Assam Moina Parijat in Dergaon
Festivities Mark the 18th Biennial Session
Dergaon, Dec 29: The 18th biennial session of the All Assam Moina Parijat (AAMP) is currently underway in Dergaon, hosted by the Golaghat district Moina Parijat unit, celebrating its platinum jubilee with vibrant festivities.
The four-day event commenced on December 26 and featured a lively cultural procession this morning, bringing joy to the atmosphere of Porabangla at Marangi.
This colorful procession was inaugurated by Sada Saikia, the general secretary of the Sattriya Music Teachers’ Society and a former Moina. The children, known as Moinas, captivated the audience with performances of Bihu, singing, instrumental music, bhaona, wedding plays, and theatrical arts.
During an open meeting chaired by Moina Gayatri Kalita from Sivasagar district, chief editor Ratul Bora addressed the attendees, outlining the session's objectives. The Moinas from Golaghat district opened the meeting with an inaugural song.
Speakers at the meeting included Riddhi Borgohain from Dhemaji, Shruti Manjuri Goswami from Nalbari, Hritika Dona from Dhakuakhana, Kakoli Kalita from Guwahati, Rhritamraj Hazarika from Dibrugarh, and Monjit Nath from Kaliabar, whose speeches were well-received by the audience.
Notable speeches were also delivered by Abhivartan Goswami, vice-president of the AASU and former Moina, and Haraprabha Kachari, an executive member of the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council.
Among those present were Marangi Circle Officer Ranamoy Bhardwaj, organizing committee executive president Manas Bardoloi, AAMP vice-president Prafulla Bora, and Golaghat District Moina Parijat president Jogen Dutta, among others.
Moina Nichwit Pran Barua from Dibrugarh was recognized for designing the logo for the platinum jubilee celebration of AAMP.
During the meeting, journalists and AAMP representatives were honored by the organizing committee. In the evening, a cultural program dedicated to Deven Dutta was inaugurated by actor Ujjwal Rajkhowa, also known as Bidur Bhai.
On Saturday, Moina Samiran Bora initiated the flag hoisting ceremony, along with 74 other flags raised by representatives from various districts. Minister Atul Bora was present to salute the marching participants.
A total of 42 debaters participated in an all-Assam debating competition. Moina Baristha Bora from Namoni Lakhimpur district won the best debater award for her argument against the motion on ‘The expansion of science and technology harms the ecological balance’. Chimpi Bora from Golaghat and Pritismita Hazarika from Jorhat were awarded second and third best debater, respectively, while Sampriti Dutta from Sivasagar and Tasmin Rahman from Dibrugarh received special jury awards. The judges for the event were Dr Rubi Bora and Dr Sanjoy Kr Hazarika.
Approximately 4,500 Moinas from 22 district units of AAMP are participating in this session. The closing ceremony will take place tomorrow, attended by Minister Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta, Satradhikar Dr Pitambar Devagoswami, and others.
