International Day of Yoga Celebrations


New Delhi, June 21: On the occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar participated in a gathering with the Diplomatic Corps at Nehru Park in Delhi, highlighting the importance of harmony between human health and nature, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).


Expressing his delight on social media, the EAM remarked, "It was a pleasure to join the Diplomatic Corps this morning at Nehru Park to celebrate International Day of Yoga. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned, this session exemplified yoga's universal appeal, transcending boundaries, backgrounds, ages, and abilities."


The event was attended by Ambassadors, High Commissioners, and various members of the diplomatic community, alongside officials from the MEA.


This year's theme, 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' underscores the link between individual wellness and the health of our planet, resonating with India's vision of fostering global harmony through traditional practices.


Globally, individuals marked the International Day of Yoga by participating in events centered on wellness, mindfulness, and sustainable living.


Prime Minister Modi spearheaded the national celebration in Visakhapatnam, where he stated that yoga offers a path to peace amidst global conflicts and unrest. He called upon the international community to embrace this Yoga Day as the start of 'yoga for humanity 2.0,' advocating for inner peace as a global priority.


During the event, the Prime Minister engaged in the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) alongside over three hundred thousand participants at RK Beach, emphasizing yoga's role in fostering happiness and tranquility.


This year's Yoga Day theme highlighted yoga's contribution not only to physical and mental health but also to environmental awareness, echoing a worldwide call for unity, well-being, and sustainable development.
