National Youth Day was celebrated with great fervor at the Youth Hostel in Dalhousie, coinciding with the birthday of Swami Vivekananda, organized by Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat). The event aimed to motivate the youth by sharing Swami Vivekananda’s impactful thoughts, his notable speeches, and the significance of maintaining a drug-free lifestyle.
Mr. Anil Bhardwaj, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Dalhousie, was the chief guest for the occasion. In his address to the young attendees, he emphasized the core messages of Swami Vivekananda, encouraging them to avoid drugs and harmful substances like chitta. He pointed out that Vivekananda’s teachings on self-confidence, discipline, and national service are crucial for empowering the youth to forge a brighter future.
Dr. Sumit, the Medical Officer for the Dalhousie block, took the opportunity to discuss important health issues such as tuberculosis (TB) and HIV, highlighting the necessity for timely testing, treatment, and awareness. Additionally, District Youth Officer Mr. Vivek Kumar elaborated on Swami Vivekananda’s life and principles, stressing the vital role of youth in the development of the nation.
The event also featured Youth Hostel Manager Mr. Devendra Sharma, who contributed to the celebrations. Cultural performances enriched the occasion, with students from Government College Chamba delivering an uplifting group song, while those from Government College Chuwari showcased an engaging dance performance.
The program concluded with a collective pledge from the youth to uphold Swami Vivekananda’s ideals and work towards a drug-free, healthy, and empowered India.
