International Women's Day Celebration at Jimmy Magilligan Center

On March 8, 2026, the Jimmy Magilligan Center in Sanawadiya will host a special event for International Women's Day, organized by the Jimmy and Janak Magilligan Foundation for Sustainable Development. From 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, men will engage in solar cooking, preparing vegetarian meals to honor the contributions of women in families and society.

As in previous years, this initiative aims to promote gender equality, environmental awareness, and effective management. Participants will serve the meals they prepare to the women present, showcasing their respect and appreciation. Key figures involved in this event include Varun Raheja, founder of Solar Food, social work expert Nilesh Chauhan, Sunil Patel from IETV, and Praneet Singh from Green Army.

Dr. Janak Palta Magilligan, the director of the center, emphasized that International Women's Day is a global celebration of women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. She shared a Bahá'í quote highlighting the importance of both men and women working together for the betterment of society, stating, 'Humanity is like a bird with two wings—one male and one female. Until both wings develop equally, the bird cannot fly.'

The event aims to foster mutual respect and equality between genders, encouraging both men and women to collaborate in creating a better world. While acknowledging that men and women are equal, it is crucial to understand that this equality does not imply uniformity; rather, both genders complement each other.
