The event featured a flag hoisting ceremony by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Arun Sharma, a march-past by various contingents, and vibrant cultural performances by students. The SDM emphasized the importance of freedom and responsibility towards society, while also launching a tree plantation drive to promote environmental conservation. The 80th Independence Day festivities at Government Arya Degree College, Nurpur were marked by great enthusiasm. The national flag was hoisted by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Arun Sharma, who also oversaw a remarkable march-past featuring participants from the Police, Home Guards, NCC, Scouts & Guides, and NSS. Students showcased their talents through lively cultural performances.


During his speech, the SDM expressed that Independence Day symbolizes pride and joy for all Indians, a freedom earned through the sacrifices of numerous freedom fighters and martyrs. He highlighted that true freedom encompasses not just independence but also the responsibility towards the nation and society. He called upon citizens to promote unity, integrity, and social harmony by fulfilling their duties diligently.

The SDM also reiterated the administration's commitment to public service, development, and addressing community concerns promptly. On this special day, the SDM recognized the children who participated in the parade and cultural events. He also initiated a tree plantation drive within the college grounds, encouraging everyone to plant trees and care for them to promote environmental sustainability.


The event saw attendance from notable figures including SP Nurpur Ilma Afroz, ASP D.C. Verma, DSP Chander Pal, Tehsildar Radhika Saini, Municipal Council Chairperson Neeti Mahajan, Vice-Chairperson Sonia Soga, SHO Surinder Kumar, NPS Managing Director Arvind Dogra, along with school principals, students, parents, officials, employees, and a significant number of local residents.
