Celebrating Independence Day with a Grand Tiranga March in Arunachal Pradesh
A Vibrant Celebration in Tawang
On August 14, the Chuna area in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang district was filled with the colors of the Indian flag as the Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and local community members participated in a 'Tiranga March' at an impressive altitude of 14,000 feet to celebrate Independence Day.
The event was led by Assistant Commissioner Thutan Wangchu from the Thingbu administrative circle, where soldiers, paramilitary forces, and residents from Mago and Chuna proudly carried a 100-meter-long national flag through the picturesque Himalayan landscape, surrounded by majestic peaks.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu described the event as embodying the 'true spirit of India,' emphasizing its goal of promoting patriotism, unity, and environmental consciousness.
Khandu shared on social media, 'At 14,000 feet, the forward areas of Chuna transformed into a vibrant sea of saffron, white, and green as the Indian Army, ITBP, villagers, and students marched together with a 100m Tiranga. The event was followed by a 'No Plastic Zone' cleanliness initiative, highlighting our dedication to preserving the delicate biodiversity of the Himalayas.'
After the march, participants engaged in a cleanliness drive, part of the district administration's efforts to protect the region's unique biodiversity, including its flora and fauna.
