A Unique Birthday Celebration

Indore: Inspired by Padma Shri Dr. Janak Palta McGilligan, Pooja Ahirwar, a medical social worker from Jabalpur working at ICMR-NIRTH, celebrated her 31st birthday as a Green Festival by planting 103 trees on the Dootni Hill in Sanawadiya.


This year, like previous ones, Pooja dedicated her birthday to nature in the presence of Dr. Janak Palta McGilligan, setting a remarkable example. Her clear message is:


“Instead of plastic decorations and balloons, make greenery a part of your birthday celebration.”


During the event, environmental enthusiasts including Pradyumna Gurjar, Shailendra Yadav (Assistant Professor), Priyanshi Mandloi (Social Work Student), Tuhina Jha (Intern), Vinod Yadav (Intern), Satendra Yadav, and Sagar Jatva joined Pooja in digging holes and planting trees.


All participants pledged to protect the environment and shared their intention to celebrate their birthdays in a similar manner, dedicating them to nature.
