Celebrating 80 Years of Independence at Sacred Heart School Dalhousie

Sacred Heart School Dalhousie, recognized as the oldest educational institution in the town, marked the 80th Independence Day with immense enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The school grounds buzzed with excitement as students, faculty, and sisters gathered to celebrate this significant day.

The ceremony featured Vandana Chaddha, the President of the Dalhousie Municipal Council, as the chief guest. She was joined by her husband, Manoj Chaddha, who previously held the position of Council President for 15 years. Their arrival was met with warm greetings from Principal Sister Molly Cherian, Father Justin, teachers, and students.

Vandana Chaddha proudly hoisted the Tricolor in the school courtyard and reviewed the parade presented by the students. The event was further enlivened by the children’s vibrant cultural and patriotic performances, enhancing the day’s celebratory atmosphere.

In her speech, Vandana Chaddha expressed her appreciation to the school for inviting her to be part of such a momentous occasion. She remarked, “It is a tremendous honor for me to be here at Sacred Heart School Dalhousie, celebrating this proud moment with all of you.”

She emphasized that Independence Day transcends being merely a national holiday; it serves as a reminder of the bravery, sacrifices, and commitment of numerous freedom fighters. She paid homage to iconic leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Rani Lakshmi Bai, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and many other known and unknown heroes whose sacrifices led to India’s freedom on 15 August 1947.

The event concluded with a unified pledge to uphold the principles of freedom and contribute positively to the nation’s development.
