A Special Birthday Celebration for Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar


New Delhi: On Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their warm wishes to Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar as he celebrated his 74th birthday.


In a message shared on X, President Murmu expressed her heartfelt greetings, stating, "Hearty greetings and best wishes to @VPIndia Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji on his birthday! I wish him good health and many more years of service to the nation."


Prime Minister Modi also took to X to commend Dhankhar's extensive knowledge of the Constitution and his contributions to enhancing the productivity of the Rajya Sabha. He remarked, "Greetings to our Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji on his birthday. His profound understanding of our Constitution, honed through years as a leading lawyer, is commendable. He has significantly improved the productivity of the Rajya Sabha and shows immense dedication to serving society. May he enjoy a long and healthy life."


Born in 1951 in Kithana village, Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district, Dhankhar was a Senior Advocate before entering politics. Since 1990, he has primarily practiced in the Supreme Court, focusing on areas such as Steel, Coal, Mining, and International Commercial Arbitration, among others. He has represented cases in various High Courts across India.


Dhankhar first entered Parliament in 1989, representing the Jhunjhunu Constituency. He later served as Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs in 1990 and was elected to the Rajasthan Assembly from the Kishangarh constituency in 1993. He became the Governor of West Bengal on July 30, 2019.


In 2022, Dhankhar was appointed as the 14th Vice President of India and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha.


Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also conveyed his birthday wishes, praising Dhankhar's constitutional expertise. He stated, "Warm wishes to @VPIndia, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar ji on his birthday. Renowned for his deep understanding of the Indian Constitution, he is respected for his wisdom and determination. Our nation appreciates his relentless efforts and vision. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath referred to Dhankhar as a symbol of simplicity, saying, "Heartiest congratulations to Honourable Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar ji, a symbol of simplicity, purity, and discipline, on his birthday! I pray to Lord Shri Ram for your good health and longevity. @VPIndia".
