Since 2024, he has been serving as the Union Minister of Coal and Mines in the Government of India. Early Life and Family Background

G. Kishan Reddy was born on May 15, 1964, in Timapur village, Ranga Reddy district. His father, G. Swami Reddy, and mother, Gangapuram Andalamma, played significant roles in his upbringing. After completing his schooling, he pursued a diploma in Tool Engineering from the Central Institute of Tool Engineering in Hyderabad.


Political Journey

His political career began as a young worker in the Janata Party. In 1980, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party during its inception. G. Kishan Reddy was inspired to enter politics by the movement led by Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan against then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Disillusioned by the Emergency imposed in the country, he aligned himself with the Janata Party.


Before becoming a Member of Parliament, G. Kishan Reddy served three terms as a legislator. He also took on the role of floor leader for the BJP in the assemblies of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Starting as a young leader, he was appointed as the treasurer of the Andhra Pradesh BJP Youth Wing and later became its president.


From 2004 to 2014, he was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Secunderabad constituency in both 2019 and 2024. In June 2024, he was entrusted with the responsibilities of the Coal and Mines Ministry. G. Kishan Reddy is well-regarded for his grassroots connections and organizational skills.
