The Old Age Home in Dehri, Sundernagar, celebrated its Silver Jubilee today, marking 25 years of dedicated service to the elderly community.

The anniversary event was a heartfelt gathering that included elderly residents, past office-bearers, donors, social organizations, and public figures, all coming together to honor the institution's journey and the individuals who have contributed to its success.

Dr. Padam Singh Guleria, the Trust president, presided over the event, with Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal serving as the chief guest.

The celebration recognized the contributions of former office-bearers V.V. Kaushal, B.R. Sharma, and Roop Chand Sharma, who were honored for their longstanding support. Donors who aided in the construction of the new facility were also acknowledged, along with various organizations that have consistently supported the Old Age Home.

A highlight of the Silver Jubilee was a cultural program featuring performances by the elderly residents themselves, transforming them from spectators to active participants in the celebration.

MLA Rakesh Jamwal praised the trust's efforts for the welfare of senior citizens and announced a contribution of ₹2 lakh from his discretionary funds for the construction of a new hall at the Old Age Home. He encouraged community members and social organizations to continue their support.

The contributions of both current and past leadership were celebrated, with B.R. Sharma recalling the impactful services of notable figures from the region, including Rajmata of Suket State Krishna Kumari and others.

Secretary Uttam Chand Sharma presented the annual report, detailing the institution's activities and financial status over the past three years.

The future of the trust was also a topic of discussion. Although the current executive committee's term was set to end, attendees agreed to extend it for another year to ensure the completion of ongoing projects.

The event, organized by a team led by Lalit Sharma, received commendations for its arrangements.

As the Old Age Home marks its 25th anniversary, the Silver Jubilee serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of community support in providing elderly citizens not just shelter, but also a sense of belonging, companionship, and dignity in their later years.
