Cyber Attacks Disrupt CBSE Re-evaluation Services
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) reported a surge of cyber attacks on its re-evaluation portal on Tuesday. In a statement shared on social media, the board confirmed that services have been restored, allowing over 16,000 students to submit their evaluations. CBSE noted that thousands of students accessed the re-evaluation portal, during which malicious actors attempted to disrupt services through a series of cyber attacks. The board indicated that the portal experienced 1.5 million hits within just two minutes due to this attack.
Additionally, the board revealed that there were over 100,000 unauthorized attempts to access files on the portal. Based on student feedback, CBSE has enhanced the platform, including extending session deadlines to make the process more convenient and seamless. Our teams remain vigilant and committed to providing every possible assistance to our valued students.
On Tuesday, CBSE opened its portal for verification and re-evaluation of Class 12 board exam results. The portal, which had faced multiple delays, was initially scheduled to launch for students on May 29. However, CBSE postponed the start until June 1 to ensure a "transparent and error-free process." This launch comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding the on-screen marking process.
In light of the ongoing disputes regarding the on-screen marking portal, the Ministry of Education has requested a detailed report from CBSE, including information about the contract awarded to Hyderabad-based Coempt Edutech. Earlier today, a parliamentary committee also held hearings on issues related to the on-screen marking portal and the implementation of the three-language policy for Classes 9 and 10.
