Significant Developments in PNB Loan Fraud Case

Hyderabad/Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) executed coordinated searches in Hyderabad and Odisha, targeting a loan fraud case involving Rs 48.48 crore linked to two private firms, according to an official announcement.

The operation, led by the CBI's Bank Security Fraud Branch from Bengaluru, focused on the residences of the directors of PCH Corporation Ltd and PCH Retail Ltd.

During these extensive searches, the CBI successfully seized crucial documents and digital evidence pertinent to the ongoing investigation.

The agency is currently analyzing the collected materials to uncover the full extent of the alleged criminal conspiracy, track the flow of misappropriated funds, and clarify the involvement of all parties implicated.

The case was initiated following a complaint from PNB Bank in Chennai, which accused PCH Corporation Ltd, PCH Retail Ltd, their directors, and unidentified public officials of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and causing a wrongful loss of Rs 48.48 crore to the institution.

The FIR claims that the accused acted with malicious intent by selling off the entire hypothecated inventory without notifying the lending banks and failing to channel the sale proceeds through their loan accounts, thus misappropriating the funds.

Consequently, the companies and their directors are facing charges of cheating, criminal breach of trust, criminal misappropriation, and conspiracy, as stated by the CBI.

Forensic experts are set to examine the digital devices obtained during the raids to establish a connection and outline the methods employed by the fraudsters.

The investigation is ongoing, and based on the evidence gathered, the CBI may extend its search operations to other states.
