Arrest of RPF Personnel in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained a Railway Protection Force (RPF) officer for allegedly soliciting a bribe from an individual to permit him to operate a shop on railway property in Sundergarh district, Odisha, as reported on Saturday.

The accused, RPF Head Constable Shambhu Prasad Singh, who was stationed at Bimalgarh, was reportedly caught in the act of accepting the bribe.

This arrest followed a complaint lodged on May 8, which claimed that two RPF officers were demanding a bribe from the complainant to allow him to run a combined dhaba and barber shop on railway land in Barsuan.

The CBI set up a sting operation and apprehended one of the suspects while he was allegedly receiving the bribe.

Following the arrest, the individual was presented before a special CBI court in Bhubaneswar and has been remanded to judicial custody until May 15.
