Bribery Allegations Lead to Arrest of ED Deputy Director


Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended a senior official from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Bhubaneswar for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from a businessman.


The individual in question, Chintan Raghubanshi, holds the position of Deputy Director at the ED's zonal office in Bhubaneswar and is a member of the 2013 batch of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS).


Reports indicate that Raghubanshi had solicited Rs 2 crore from the businessman, allegedly using threats of initiating ED raids as leverage. The businessman subsequently reported the incident to the CBI, prompting an investigation.


CBI agents caught Raghubanshi in the act as he was reportedly receiving Rs 20 lakh in cash from the complainant in the Sahid Nagar locality. He was then taken to the CBI office for further interrogation.
