CBI Takes Action on NEET (UG) 2026 Paper Leak Allegations

New Delhi: On Tuesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the alleged paper leak associated with the NEET (UG) 2026 examination, which took place on May 3, as confirmed by officials.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) had to cancel the examination after serious allegations emerged.

In response to these claims, the government has tasked the CBI with conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

The NTA reported that it received information about potential malpractice on the evening of May 7, just four days post-examination, which was then forwarded to central agencies for verification and necessary actions on May 8.

Following a review of the information in collaboration with central agencies and findings from law enforcement, the NTA, with the Government of India's consent, decided to annul the NEET (UG) 2026 exam held on May 3 and will announce new dates for a re-examination.

This examination was conducted in 551 cities across India and 14 international locations.

The NTA organized the test for approximately 2.3 million registered candidates at various centers nationwide.
