CBI Identifies Key Figure in NEET-UG 2026 Exam Paper Leak
Investigation Uncovers NEET-UG 2026 Exam Paper Leak
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully identified the mastermind behind the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper leak. According to the agency, the investigation revealed that P.V. Kulkarni, a chemistry lecturer involved in the examination process by the National Testing Agency (NTA), had access to the exam papers. In the last week of April 2026, he, along with another accused, Manisha Waghmare—who was arrested by the CBI on May 14, 2026—organized special coaching sessions for students at his residence in Pune.
During these coaching classes, they instructed students to write down questions, options, and correct answers by hand. The questions written by the students matched exactly with those on the actual NEET-UG 2026 exam paper, which took place on May 3, 2026. As of yesterday, the CBI has apprehended seven suspects from Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, and Ahilyanagar. Five of these individuals have already been presented in court and have been remanded to police custody for seven days for further questioning. The other two suspects arrested yesterday are being presented in a Pune court for transit remand before being transferred to a court in Delhi.
CBI Interrogates Coaching Center Director
On Friday, the CBI interrogated the director of a prominent coaching center in Latur, Maharashtra, as part of the NEET-UG exam paper leak investigation. Officials reported that a CBI team visited the residence of Shivraj Motegaonkar, director of Renukai Chemistry Classes (RCC), located in the Shivnagar area, on Thursday night and early Friday morning. The CBI currently has a 28-member team stationed in Latur.
When media personnel inquired about the investigation from a CBI officer exiting Motegaonkar's residence around 12:30 PM on Friday, the officer declined to comment. The CBI team arrived in Latur on Wednesday and took into custody retired teacher P.V. Kulkarni, who taught chemistry at a local college. Officials noted that Kulkarni had retired four years ago from a prestigious college and was part of the committee responsible for preparing the chemistry question papers for NEET. The NEET-UG 2026 exam, which was conducted on May 3 for admission to undergraduate medical courses, was canceled on May 12 due to allegations of paper leakage.
