Allegations of Fund Misappropriation

A case has been registered against four individuals for allegedly attempting to misappropriate ₹3.60 crore from the local area development fund of Prasad Lad, a member of the Legislative Council from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This information was confirmed by a Mumbai police official on Thursday.


According to the officer, Lad reported to the Sion police that the accused attempted to transfer funds from Ratnagiri in the Konkan region to Beed in Marathwada. Following this report, a first information report (FIR) was filed citing cyber fraud and other charges.


The MLC has claimed that the accused used fake letterheads, signatures, and voice recordings to mislead district officials into facilitating the fund transfer. The officer noted that the recordings were likely created using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
