A significant road mishap was narrowly averted near Rajol 45 Mile on Sunday evening when a vehicle swerved to avoid a stray animal that unexpectedly appeared on the road. The car lost control and collided with an oncoming tipper, resulting in it overturning.
Fortunately, the passengers in the vehicle only suffered minor injuries, although the car itself was severely damaged. Witnesses noted that the driver had to brake suddenly to prevent hitting the animal, which caused the vehicle to lose stability and crash.
This incident underscores the ongoing issue of stray animals on national highways and major thoroughfares. Local residents have expressed concerns about stray cattle frequently occupying or wandering onto roads in the 45 Mile region, creating a continuous risk of accidents. They have called on local authorities and the Animal Husbandry Department to implement prompt and effective measures to remove these animals from highways, cautioning that inaction could lead to a serious accident in the future.
