A Noble Act That Saves Lives
During her speech, CEO Mabel Christian emphasized the significance of voluntary blood donation and commended the local community's selfless involvement.
“The turnout has been incredibly inspiring. Many individuals, including local men and women and Army personnel, stepped forward to donate blood. This act is not only noble but also a sacred duty — a single unit of blood can save three to four lives. It showcases the compassion and humanity present in our community,” shared one participant.
Chief guest Vinod Mahajan remarked, “'Rakt daan maha daan hai' (no service is greater than saving a life). Blood donation represents the highest form of giving, and I applaud the Cantonment Board for encouraging people to participate in this life-saving effort. Regular camps should be organized to maintain a consistent blood supply for emergencies.”
In total, 40 donors contributed 40 units of blood throughout the day. The event was conducted in partnership with the medical team from Pt Jawaharlal Nehru Government Medical College & Hospital, Chamba, under the guidance of the Chief Medical Officer, Chamba.
