(Chandigarh News) Manimajra. A significant candlelight march was organized this evening in Manimajra, led by District Congress President Surjit Singh Dhillon, advocating for the establishment of a college. The event saw participation from local councilor Darshana Rani, Narendra Singh Nandi, Block Congress President Sanjeev Gaba, Varinder Sharma Bobby, Asif Chaudhary, social activists, youth, and numerous residents. The march commenced at the circle near the police station and concluded near Gurukul Global School, where participants lit candles and chanted slogans to emphasize their demand for a college in Manimajra.

Surjit Singh Dhillon Writes to the Prime Minister
Surjit Singh Dhillon highlighted that despite a population of three hundred thousand in Manimajra, there is no degree college available, forcing students to travel to other cities for higher education, which wastes both time and money. He mentioned that he has written to the Prime Minister, urging immediate intervention to establish at least two colleges in Manimajra. He warned the administration that if this demand is ignored, the Congress party will initiate a large-scale protest.

Councilor Darshana Rani Raises the Issue in Municipal Corporation

Councilor Darshana Rani stated that she has repeatedly raised the demand for a college in Manimajra during municipal meetings, but the administration has yet to take any concrete action. She expressed that Manimajra has been consistently neglected in terms of education, which is unjust to the students' future. She called for the municipal corporation to pass a proposal on this matter and for the administration to act promptly.

Block Congress President Sanjeev Gaba remarked that thousands of students from Manimajra are compelled to seek higher education in Chandigarh or Panchkula, adversely affecting their studies.
