A New Beginning for Hemraj's Family
Mandi: The delivery of keys to a newly constructed home on September 27 marked a significant turning point for Hemraj and his family in Baihna village, Balh tehsil, ending years of hardship and ushering in a more stable future.
Once a tractor operator, Hemraj faced a devastating battle with cancer that left him unable to work, plunging his family into dire financial straits. With no other income source, they were forced to live in a makeshift tin shelter.
His two young children, a nine-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter, grew up in poverty, struggling to meet even their most basic needs.
Hope arrived through the Muninder Dharmarth Trust, part of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj’s Annapurna campaign, which facilitated the construction of a pucca house for the family. Local MLA Inder Singh Gandhi presented the keys to the family during a ceremony on September 27.
Gandhi praised the efforts of the Muninder Dharmarth Trust and the volunteers of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, emphasizing the importance of providing a permanent home to families in distress as a vital form of social service. He highlighted how such initiatives can restore dignity and hope to those facing hardships.
The new home was not just a shelter; it came fully furnished with essential household items, alleviating the financial burden of moving in. The kitchen was equipped with a stove and utensils, while the living spaces included beds, bedding, tables, and chairs.
For Hemraj, who has been fighting cancer while witnessing his family's struggles, this house symbolizes security during a challenging time. For his children, it offers a safe and stable environment to live, learn, and grow.
The Annapurna campaign aims to support economically disadvantaged families by providing essential needs such as food, clothing, shelter, education, and medical care. It ensures that families lacking adequate housing receive pucca homes, along with food and educational resources as needed.
The Muninder Dharmarth Trust and its volunteers have also engaged in various social initiatives across Mandi and other regions of Himachal Pradesh, including blood donation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and support for those in need, as well as promoting dowry-free marriages to encourage responsible social practices.
In Baihna, the transformation of Hemraj's family is a testament to the campaign's impact, moving from a life under a tin roof to owning a permanent, fully furnished home.
