Bhubaneswar: A bus accident in Dhenkanal district of Odisha resulted in injuries to at least 20 individuals on Friday morning, according to police reports.


The incident occurred in the Kantiokteni region, falling under the jurisdiction of Tumusingha Police Station. The bus, which was transporting over 50 passengers, overturned after the driver lost control on a muddy canal road.


The vehicle ended up on its side in a ditch beside the road. It was en route from Parjang in Dhenkanal to Bhubaneswar when the mishap took place.


Local residents, along with police and fire service teams, assisted in transporting the injured to the Anlabereni Community Health Centre (CHC).


Some passengers sustained serious injuries and were subsequently transferred to the district headquarters hospital in Dhenkanal.


One of the injured, Subhasmita Mahalik, claimed that the driver took an alternative route, which contributed to the accident.


An investigation into the incident has been launched by personnel from Tumusingha Police Station.
