BSF's Effective Response to Drone Threats
Abhishek Pathak, the Inspector General of BSF in Gujarat, reported that over 600 drones were launched by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, all of which were effectively neutralized by India's air defense systems. Speaking at a press conference in Gandhinagar, IG Pathak emphasized the remarkable performance of the defense mechanism, which ensured that no harm came to civilians or security personnel. He stated that all of Pakistan's drones were rendered ineffective. Despite a surge in missile and drone attacks after May 8, our air defense systems performed excellently, resulting in no casualties.
Details of the Drone Incursions
Pathak revealed that approximately 40% of the 600 drones launched from across the border, around 200 drones, managed to enter the Gujarat region. However, there were no reports of injuries or damage. He further noted that Pakistan had also deployed tanks and heavy artillery along the Gujarat border, indicating their aggressive intentions behind the attacks. Highlighting the role of female officers during Operation Sindoor, Pathak praised the contributions of over 800 female BSF personnel stationed at the border. He specifically mentioned Assistant Commandants Amandeep and Niti Yadav, who led their companies in the most challenging terrains of the creek area.
Significant Losses for Pakistan
IG Pathak indicated that Pakistan suffered considerable losses during this operation, with over 20 terrorists from the Jaish-e-Mohammed group killed in Bahawalpur. Additionally, it is estimated that around 35 to 40 Pakistani military personnel also lost their lives. The BSF is responsible for securing the India-Pakistan border from Barmer in Rajasthan to Kutch in Gujarat. Based on the lessons learned from the recent attacks, Pathak mentioned that all activities are being analyzed to enhance future preparedness and response strategies.
